Report: LSU QB Brandon Harris has sports hernia surgery

LSU quarterback Brandon Harris had sports hernia surgery Monday, according to a report in The Advertiser.

Harris confirmed to the paper he was having surgery, but declined to name the injury. The paper cited sources on the specifics of the procedure.

“It’s something minor, and I have to go get it taken care of now that the season is over,” Harris told the paper. “It’s nothing serious, but I’ve had it for a long time. It’s been nagging at me for a while. So, this is the perfect time to take care of it. It’s a minor procedure.”

Harris told the paper he was going to be out six to eight weeks, but that he expected to be back for spring football.

Harris completed 14 of 23 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown and rushed three times for 41 yards in the Tigers’ 56-27 win against Texas Tech.

Harris struggled with consistency this season, completing 53.6 percent of his passes 2,158 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.
